Practicing our faith through the times of the Coronavirus

Each day our Pastor will post a message to keep us connected while the Church is closed.

Day 16, March 29, 2020
“Rest for your weary soul”

Jesus said, “Come unto me all who are weary and heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” (Matthew 11:28) The Lord’s Day is our traditional day of spiritual rest. Perhaps with the isolation related to the Coronavirus you have experienced too much rest.

But spiritual rest is different than physical rest. Spiritual rest is certainly different than inactivity. Spiritual rest brings us into the presence of God, our Creator, Redeemer, and Sustainer. Spiritual rest brings us into the presence of the Holy Trinity, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

We come to God empty, longing to be filled. We come to God worried, seeking to find calm. We come to God overwhelmed, believing that in God we find the sufficiency of the Almighty. We come to God isolated, knowing that in God there is fellowship, a rich and warm fellowship where we are joined together with the whole Body of Christ.

The key in all of this is that we come to God. Hearing the invitation of Jesus, our Lord and Savior, let us bring our weary souls to the one who makes all things new.

Not being able to worship together is something I really miss.
