A Deacon in the Presbyterian Church is an individual elected and ordained to witness the love of Jesus Christ through compassion and service. They are called to serve the Church and care for those in need, both within the church community and beyond, including the sick, poor, and those in distress.
The Deacons volunteer to serve the church and our community in numerous capacities, including:
- Fellowship on Sunday mornings
- Transportation help
- Free Luncheons for those over 70 (the Diamonds among us)
- Communion Preparation
- Memorial Collations (funeral receptions)
- Shut-in Visitations
- Angel tree (Christmas gifts for needy children)
- Mitten Tree (Winter collection of mittens and hats for needy)
- Sunday flower delivery to shut-ins
- Monthly WARM Homeless Shelter dinners*
- Emergency meals
- Cards and visits for those who are sick or recovering from illness
*The Deacons serve dinner for the WARM Shelter on the first Saturday of each month. Please check the bulletin board in Fellowship Hall to see if there are any items that the Deacons may need and bring these items to the kitchen in Fellowship Hall on the first Saturday by noon. Cooked items should be refrigerated. Thank you for helping our Deacons.
