“The central doctrine of the Christian faith is the resurrection…Christians should seek to make the occasion of death a time in which they reaffirm with joy the hope of the gospel.”—Presbyterian Book of Order.

Presbyterian funeral and memorial services are intended as a time to remember the deceased, to give thanks for this person’s life, and to acknowledge God’s power over death.
Our Pastor, Gin Courtney, will consult with the family to determine the exact order of the service and the particular readings, hymns, poems and remembrances to be included.
A Few Helpful Details:
- Pastor Courtney will lead the service unless she approves other arrangements, and she will typically share a brief message.
- A family member or friend may offer a eulogy if desired. The service may also include a time for sharing memories.
- Presbyterian funeral services are generally closed casket; however, a viewing may be held at the funeral home beforehand.
- There is no fee for church members to use the church. Non-members are asked to pay a modest fee, as outlined in the funeral application.
- Fees for the Pastor and/or Organist are arranged separately and may be paid directly to them or through the funeral home. These are not handled by the church.
- For church members, our Deacons can organize a funeral collation in the fellowship hall. The family provides funds for food, and a donation to the Deacons is a thoughtful expression of thanks.
